FIRST ELK OF 2025
The first elk calf of this season was spotted only 200 yards from Trailblazers Hall at Boone’s Ridge. Every May the staff eagerly monitors a network of cameras to capture the first elk calf sighting. In May, cow elk find solitary spots to give birth and in June they begin to gather in “nursery herds” with other cows and calves.
The elk herd at Boone’s Ridge is thriving. There are no fences to enclose them but rather an abundance of food and virtually no predation across 19-square miles. The elk experience at The Ridge continues to exceed expectations.
